Hi Donna,
Which version and build of Outlook are you using? See File, Office Account for the information.

Do you have the search box in the title bar? That is the new location for it.

Outlook 2016, shows in properties of outlook.

Product Info shows Microsoft Office 365 Business vs. 1910

When I click on down arrow to the right of the search people box, a 'customize quick access toolbar' shows up.

I want to be able to search emails sent or received by a contact name, & it's not doing this, while looking at MAIL..

Do you have the search field in the title bar? If so, it will look just like my screenshot - nothing to enable.

If you are still on the older design where the search box is above the message list (or should be), is the search box missing completely or just really tiny? There is a bug in some builds where the search box is tiny - maybe 1/3 the size in this screenshot. Adjusting the width of the message list makes it bigger.
